PhD Candidate | Earth System Science Researcher | Google Developer Expert
I'm David Montero Loaiza, a PhD Candidate in Physics and Earth System Science at Leipzig University, Germany.
I am also a researcher at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv).
My research focuses on Remote Sensing of Vegetation, with a particular emphasis on the effects of climate extremes on
the terrestrial biosphere and land-atmosphere interactions.
I am dedicated to contributing to the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) community,
particularly in geospatial applications. I've developed several impactful open-source projects,
including Awesome Spectral Indices, cubo, and eemont, which have been widely used and recognized in the field.
Additionally, I am a Google Developer Expert for Google Earth Engine, where I create open-source
solutions for both the Python and JavaScript APIs.
